Five Races for Fall 2015

Races Worth Running this Fall

As summer comes to a close, runners start up their training for the Fall race season. Check out some of the running events we rounded up for our JoJos!

Pittsburgh Great Race

Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Date: September 27th, 2015
Registration Fee: $35

Let’s kick start the race season with the 38th Annual Great Race in Pittsburgh, PA – also home to Dona Jo’s corporate office. The Great Race was established in 1977 by the late Mayor Richard S. Caliguiri. Runners and walkers will take the streets of the Steel City for a 10K. Although this is a shorter course compared to the rest of the races highlighted in this article, we couldn’t be more excited for it; Dona Jo will have a booth at the expo on Friday, September 25th and Saturday, September 26th. Don’t forget to stop by booth 219 and get race day ready with our new prints!

Bank of America Chicago Marathon

After completing, don’t forget to treat yourself to a deep dish pizza or a Chicago-style hot dog, you’ve earned it…when in Chicago, do as the Chicagoans do!

Marine Corps Marathon

Location: Washington, D.C.

Registration Fee: $125

The Marine Corps Marathon is one of the most popular marathons – it sold out in under 2 and a half hours last year. It is referred to as the “People’s Marathon” because there isn’t any prize money offered to the top finishers. This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the race; although the runners look forward to racing, they also get excited for the Marines lining the course to cheer on the runners and pass out medals at the finish line.

The TCS NYC Marathon

The TCS New York City Marathon is the world’s largest marathon – the course runs 26.2 miles through all five city boroughs.  This 45-year-old tradition started in 1970 with only 127 entrants, only 55 racers crossed the finish line. In 2014, the race had a record number 50,530 finishers. This iconic race kicks off in Staten Island with Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” playing in the background and ends in Central Park.
