How to Build a Fresh Spring Salad

It is National Wildflower Week (May 4-10), so we are celebrating by bringing you a fresh and colorful Spring salad recipe. The more color you can add to your diet, the healthier and more anti-oxidant rich it will be. At Dona Jo, this philosophy applies to your wardrobe as well! Wearing the chic White Sporty Tee and beautiful Wildflower Leggings, I sourced my fresh and in-season ingredients from the farmer’s market!

  • Kale
  • Spinach
  • Mushrooms
  • Red Pepper
  • Tomato
  • Strawberries
  • Carrots
  • Yellow Pepper
  • Cucumber
  • Blueberries
  • Classic hummus
  • Almond Milk
  • Feta Cheese

  1. Choose your base greens

I love spinach and kale because they’re packed with micronutrients and the flavors blend nicely.

  1. Pick your add-ins

The more color you can add, the better! Don’t be afraid to add some fruit in there too! This step is 100% customizable.

  1. Top it off!

For a creamier texture, opt for hummus + almond milk instead! It still has the oil-base that traditional dressings have to provide healthy fats. I like to add feta cheese but you can add whichever kind you like. Dried fruit or shredded almonds make great toppings as well!
